Company: Business Development Director - Lawtronic Ltd
Industrial automation and the control systems engineering business being my life-long pursuit, and indeed shows no signs of abatement just yet!
With a career spanning 27 years, starting out as an apprenticed engineer then graduating though a design department I settled for many years as a software commissioning engineer and project manager.
Travelling the UK, Europe and world-wide being contracted to multi-national organizations, often for months at a time forged a certain self-reliance to not only deliver the brief but to undertake the ownership and accountability necessary to retain satisfied stakeholders.
The migration to leadership was perhaps the natural progression and following great interest in business and management it was “back to school” to gain a BA Hons with the Open University. The pragmatic approach for applied learning and personal development, once again underpinning a new role and direction.
Developing personal and business practice further still with associations such as the Institute for Manufacturing at Cambridge University, my role with Lawtronic and its partners expanded yet further still. By compiling a case study and business model to win the LSC “Apprentice Employer of the Year” for the eastern region, an invitation to Westminster for a parliamentary reception was gained and I also accepted the role of Chairman at the College of West Anglia’s Engineering Curriculum Advisory Board, these perhaps being some of the more notable achievements.
In 2010 Lawtronic was subject to a change in ownership and 2011 I accepted the position of director. To date we have increased the business turnover by approximately 60% and we continue to grow the business in a sustainable manner through proven development programmes and meeting all our stakeholders needs effectively.
