Leeway has launched a Christmas Campaign to support those experiencing domestic abuse, collecting donations for the women and children living in refuge and service users in the community.
Many of Leeway’s service users will flee an abusive relationship with very few, if any, personal belongings, and could face Christmas away from family and friends. The aim of the campaign is to spread some festive cheer to some of the service users, allowing them to have an enjoyable Christmas free from abuse at such a difficult time in their lives.
Leeway are accepting a range of items including toys and games, arts and craft materials, toiletries, make-up sets, dressing gowns and pyjamas, and tins of biscuits and chocolates. Only new, unopened and unwrapped items are accepted due to health and safety regulations.
The campaign has been supported by several local organisations and businesses, who have kindly agreed to be a drop-off point for donations. Anyone who wishes to donate can do so at Guildhall Britannia, the Castle Mall (Management Office on level 3), Norfolk Chamber of Commerce, or Virgin Money Lounge in Norwich.
Last year Leeway supported over 9,000 adults, children and young people across Norfolk and Suffolk, and currently runs seven refuges in Norfolk.

Jordan Domin, Customer Experience Team, Norfolk Chamber of Commerce: “We are absolutely delighted to be able to support Leeway with such an important collection in order that the people they support can have an enjoyable Christmas.”
Mandy Proctor, Chief Executive of Leeway: “I’m always amazed at the generosity of people and the support our Christmas Campaign receives from individuals, organisations and community groups. These donations, no matter how small, can help to put a smile on the faces of the families receiving support, both in our refuges and living in the community, at such a difficult time. Many of the women and children who stay at our refuges arrive with very little or nothing, so the smallest little gift can make all the difference for them.”
Davina Tanner, OBE, Chief Executive of Britannia Enterprises: “We’re delighted to support Leeway’s Christmas Campaign again this year. The Guildhall is a great central location for people to drop off their donations and our customers and visitors were very generous last year. We feel sure that they will be again. Leeway is a charity very close to our heart here at Britannia Enterprises and we hope to collect lots of items for the women and children that Leeway support this Christmas.”
