Leeway has launched a Christmas Campaign to support those experiencing domestic abuse, collecting donations for the women and children living in refuge and service users in the community.
Many of Leeway’s service users will flee an abusive relationship with very few, if any, personal belongings, and could face Christmas away from family and friends. The aim of the campaign is to spread some festive cheer to some of the service users, allowing them to have an enjoyable Christmas free from abuse at such a difficult time in their lives.
Leeway are accepting a range of items including toys and games, arts and craft materials, toiletries, make-up sets, dressing gowns and pyjamas, and tins of biscuits and chocolates. Only new, unopened and unwrapped items are accepted due to health and safety regulations.
The campaign has been supported by several local organisations and businesses, who have kindly agreed to be a drop-off point for donations. Anyone who wishes to donate can do so at Guildhall Britannia, the Castle Mall (Management Office on level 3), Norfolk Chamber of Commerce, or Virgin Money Lounge in Norwich.
Last year Leeway supported over 9,000 adults, children and young people across Norfolk and Suffolk, and currently runs seven refuges in Norfolk.
