The former Probation Office, on Purfleet Quay, has been bought for an undisclosed sum by Anthony and Jeanette Goodrich, who own the Bank House Hotel, on nearby King’s Staithe Square.
The couple, who also own the Rose and Crown at Snettisham, are pledging to transform the building.
Mr Goodrich said: “In the years we have owned The Rose & Crown and Bank House we have built up thriving bar, restaurant and accommodation businesses.
“We plan to develop the Probation Office, which is located across the square from Bank House, create more bedrooms, a function room and a café/bar.
“This is another good news story for King’s Lynn. The development of the Probation Offices will further enhance the ongoing King’s Lynn waterfront redevelopment scheme, add to the buzz of the historic riverside area, and will create jobs.”
The former probation office stands at the heart of historic Lynn. It is next door to the Custom House and a stone’s throw from the Hanse House and St George’s Guildhall.
