Member Event: Retirement Options for Business Owners

Our seminars for March shine the spotlight on Preparing for Retirement – in particular looking at issues for business owners.

Pensions seem to get a universally bad press but they remain an important part of the ‘retirement mix’ and we think they can be a very effective financial planning tool. By the end of this session you will have a better understanding why.

We’ll start by covering the more recent changes to pensions legislation with an emphasis on how these affect people who may want to make larger contributions or use their pension fund to help develop their business. We’ll look at how you can take benefits from your fund and use your pension to support the development of your business.

We’ll look at alternatives to pensions and explore the benefits of a balanced approach that looks to a number of income sources in retirement.

For many businesspeople retirement security relies on the successful sale of their business, yet each year its estimated 100,000 businesses close simply because no-one wants to buy them. We’ll finish the session with a discussion based on an extended study conducted at the UEA on ways to increase the chances that your business will be sold.

We’ll be running two sessions – at 9.00 and 12.30. A light breakfast or lunch will be served.
