Level 3 Award in Risk Assessment
Topic areas covered The qualification will enable successful candidate to understand and, at Level 3, put into practice the following: – The importance of health and safety in the workplace – The principles involved in risk assessment – The relationship between hazard and risk as part of an accident and ill health prevention – The hierarchy of controls to control risk to an acceptable level – The risk assessment process in a workplace
Assessment The Level 3 Award in Risk Assessment is assessed in two parts; – Part 1 is a 30 question multiple-choice examination lasting 1 hour. Learners must achieve 20 out of 30 to pass – Part 2 is a centre-set and marked assessment. Learners are expected to undertake a risk assessment, which will be internally set and assessed by the centre and externally moderated by Highfield (HABC).
Who is this course for? Anyone who needs more practice; people responsible for conducting risk assessment and putting controls into practice, i.e. understanding the wider management of health and safety. Managers, supervisors, business owners, safety representatives.
Course Dates: 20th & 27th June
Prerequisites: Basic literacy, enthusiasm, and a willingness to learn and participate. A workplace to complete a risk assessment on is also key, but not essential
Duration: Two day programme (09:00 start – 16:30 finish),

Bank of England Lunch

We are delighted that Phil Eckersley, Bank of England Agent is our guest speaker at this lunch. Phil will talk about the UK Economy and will take questions at the end of the presentation.
About Phil Eckersley
Phil graduated in Economics and Econometrics in the 80s, completing a post graduate qualification the following year. He started with the Bank of England in 1987 having spent three years teaching economics and mathematics in SE London. In his first four years at the Bank Phil worked as a statistician on money supply data. He moved on in 1991 to work in the management’s accounts office in the Bank, providing detailed cost briefing to Governors and Directors. In 1994 Phil joined the Bank of England’s agency network, between 1994 and 2002 acting as Deputy Agent in the South East & East Anglia moving on in 2002 to become Agent for Northern Ireland; then in October 2008 he was appointed to be the Agent in the South East & East Anglia. Phil Chairs a number of business panels in SE&EA, provides regular briefings on the state of the economy for the Monetary Policy Committee and undertakes many business presentations across the region. He enjoys golf, tennis and reading, although not all at the same time!

Norfolk Chamber aims to ensure that there is ‘business friendly’ local environment in which our members can operate and prosper. Our four key themes are: Revolution in Technology; Improving Infrastructure; Bridging the Skills Gap; and Economic Trends – all themes aim to support the needs of our members and help them grow.
We are currently working in partnership with the local authorities and the New Anglia LEP to review and update the overall Economic Strategy for Norfolk. It is essential that the updated Strategy is business focussed and is designed to make the most of the opportunities in our region.
To make this strategy robust, we want to hear from small, medium and large businesses about what they need to grow their businesses. Norfolk Chamber are holding a series of roundtable discussions to capture business opinions and needs which will be fed back into the Economic Strategy:

Aim; The qualification provides skills in the auditing and inspection of food manufacturing processes, in order to effectively verify HACCP and general food safety and management systems. HABC Level 2 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace
Location: Carrowbreck House, 7 Carrowbreck Road, Norwich, NR6 5FA. This course has been designed to ensure that all employees are aware of their own safety and the safety of customers, contractors and the public. It is applicable in any workplace and the training can be adapted to meet specific needs. This course enables attendees to understand the principles of Health and Safety, contribute to any Health and Safety Management system, develop an understanding of the responsibilities placed on employers and employees, develop an understanding of hazard, risk and the main causes of harm to workers, acknowledge the importance of following systems, procedures and rules and understand how individual action can reduce risks to health and safety. Duration: One-day course (9:00am – 5:00pm approximately) Equipment: No equipment is necessary for you to bring to the course. Pens and note paper will be available. Lunch provided: On full day training courses a sandwich/roll or salad lunch with crisps and cake or fruit will be provided. Refreshments will be available throughout the duration of this course. Please note that it is a requirement of the awarding body, that we need to see photographic proof of identity of each candidate before they can be entered into the exam, for example, passport, driving licence, student union card or work pass. Hethersett Academy Careers Event
Norfolk Chamber are supporting local schools across Norfolk to deliver a careers event to inspire, motivate and educate students on career opportunities.
We are looking for local businesses to take an exhibition stand at this year’s Careers event at Hethersett Academy on Wednesday 12th July.
This will be an exhibition stand based careers event with over 250 students visiting stands. Exhibition Stands will be free of charge and refreshments will be provided.

The course is aimed at anyone who is working within Health and Safety on a day to day basis, any senior members of staff who deal with Health and Safety or anyone who is looking for an update on their current Health and Safety Training.
