On behalf of Norfolk County Council we are hosting a number of career events targeted at 16 to 18 year old young people leaving education this summer and up to the age of 24 looking for an apprenticeship.

We are hoping this is something that you as a parent or your business would be interested in attending or engaging with to showcase your vacancies, apprenticeship opportunities , career opportunities or traineeships .

We are looking to ensure that Opportunities Norfolk is more than 3 one day events and can develop into a recognised brand / location young people, apprentice providers and businesses can utilise to engage with each other.

Our events will be hosted by young people who are either on an apprenticeship or looking for one. They will be visible guides for young people attending the event and help signpost them to the various activities or relevant providers .

We have already set up social media and a text service to engage young people and businesses. Our website will be live shortly .

We will be giving a journal to each young person who attends the event. Which after the event will also be available to download from the opportunities website for those young people who were unable to attend. This will have adverts and links from the businesses and providers attending and also spaces for notes from the seminars etc, we are mocking up a sample this week . We are also looking for case studies from each sector and were hoping you may have a case study we could use .

As well as the exhibition pods we are broadening the experiences available to young people by hosting seminars on the following subjects :- CV writing , How to use Social Media , What is an Apprenticeship , top 10 interview tips . These seminars will run every 45 minutes on a rolling basis .

We are engaging businesses to talk about careers in their sector and help form decisions for young people on their career choice and these talks will again take place every 45 minutes and will be covering the following sectors across the 3 events Health & Social Care, Farming, Finance, Hospitality, The Armed Forces, Energy, Engineering, Construction, Creative / Media, Manufacturing .

Our final activity we are providing is for young people to bring along their CV’s and have them looked at by a professional to give them honest and informative feedback on how to impress and employer and a telephone interview taster session .

We have other opportunities to engage including outside space which you can use at all the venues .
