Students who already have a Foundation Degree or a Diploma of Higher Education (or the equivalent) in any subject can apply to progress to the BA (Hons) Professional Studies programme. The University of East Anglia will be holding an open evening on Thursday 9 May from 6.00-8.00pm for students who are interested to find out more about the degree.
The BA (Hons) Professional Studies generic ‘Top-up’ programme will provide those who have a Diploma of Higher Education (240 credits at HE levels 1 & 2), or a Foundation degree (or the equivalent) with a tailored progression route to a full honours degree. The course provides a programme of study which is in keeping with the demands of level 3 study and which promotes and encourages personal and professional growth and the acquisition and development of key managerial and analytical skills.
The course recognises the value of work-based learning and is designed to facilitate the integration of workplace learning with a challenging academic programme of study which will enable participants to become more effective, independent and proactive in their professional role. Three compulsory modules, including a Dissertation/Project Module, will provide participants with an opportunity to design their own research project tailored to their current work setting or future career ambitions.
The BA degree is taught on Wednesday evenings together with a series of 9 Saturday workshops during the year. This flexible format enables participants to combine study with their professional and personal commitments irrespective of whether they are working full-time or part-time.
The course attracts applicants from many different disciplinary/subject backgrounds. There are lots of opportunities for cross-disciplinary learning and participants will have an opportunity to work with a very different kind of group to those they may have previously experienced. The full-time course is spread over a full calendar year (Sept-August), whilst the part-time version is spread over two academic years.
