We are looking for an experienced Skill Advisor to join our amazing team to be responsible for supporting businesses to understand and assess their skills need in support of the Norfolk & Suffolk Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP).

We will be delivering this LSIP in collaboration with Suffolk Chamber of Commerce, so you will also be collaborating with the Suffolk Chamber team and their local business community as well.
About this role
The LSIP is designed to put business and employers at the heart of the skills agenda across Norfolk and Suffolk. It is primarily a business engagement project, developed to understand business skills need now and in the future; this role will help facilitate business community engagement, greater skills understanding and closer working with the education and training providers.
The LSIP Skills Advisor will be responsible for engaging with businesses in Norfolk and proactively promoting the work of the Local Skills Improvement Plan and its importance to skills planning from and Employer perspective locally. You will provide insight into the current training provision across the region and help translate business needs into opportunities for further education providers and independent training providers.
Job Description:
- To proactively engage with businesses, to help them to determine their current and future skills and training needs
- To deliver high levels of customer service and develop effective working relationships with employers
- To signpost businesses with skills needs to training partners where current provision currently exists
- To work with the LSIP team to gather the data needed for a skills supply analysis report, which will provide an assessment of the local curriculum offer and current progression pathways the LSIP priority themes
- To support the LSIP project team at regional events, as required.
- To work flexibly and carry out other relevant and appropriate duties and responsibilities – that may from time to time be specified to support the delivery of the LSIP project.
- To regularly update our CRM systems as required to meet the needs of the LSIP
Your Skills:
- A professional and friendly nature
- Highly organised and deadline driven
- Business/Stakeholder engagement experience with customers on a face to face basis
- Demonstrable knowledge of Norfolk and Suffolk further education and training providers
- Team work and the flexibility to support your colleagues where needed
- Proficient with IT including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Quickly able to learn online multi-platform IT systems such as CRM, email marketing, website, and live chat
- To be effective in oral, written and face to face communication
- Valid UK Driving Licence with use of your own car for business use.
- Knowledge of the local business community and issues currently facing businesses on a local and national level.
Our main offices are in Norwich City Centre. But this role is not solely office-based – you will be using a combination of: hot desking from the Norwich office; being out and about in different locations across the Norfolk and Suffolk business community; and attending events; and some working from home.
Working hours are usually 8:30 – 5:00pm, but will vary depending on events. Benefits include 26 days holiday per annum pro rata, free healthcare cash plan and a pension scheme.
Salary: £28,000 – dependent on experience
Position: Fixed term until June 2023 – Possible extension of the role, dependent upon successful project delivery
