Building on the huge success of last year’s event, ‘Energise Your Future at the Skills for Energy Conference’, when more than 600 students, parents and teachers connected with energy employers, our next event, Skills for Energy 2017, will take place on 29 November at the International Aviation Academy – Norwich (IAAN).
This event will be designed to feed the increasing appetite among young people to explore the full range of training and career opportunities in the energy industry and how to access them. It will provide a unique opportunity to talk directly to and inspire potential employees and showcase companies’ investment in young people and the future.
We can only achieve this with the support of the region’s employers and their commmitment to take the free-of-charge exhibitor spaces and bring along interactive STEM-based activities, current apprentices and other employees who can talk to young people about their experiences.
Feedback from students and teachers from last year’s event was incredibly positive, so please help us to make this year’s event bigger, better and even more inspirational for our future workforce.

In unpredictable market conditions greater emphasis is placed on the contribution and productivity of each individual employee. From a management perspective it is vitally important to monitor and control circumstances surrounding periods of employee absence.
In Birketts’ Early Bird seminars the team looked at the importance of the medical report and instructing medical advisers. This session will go much further and give delegates the practical knowledge and skills to:-
manage sickness absence procedures and meetings and recognise when specific action is required
identify what constitutes a “disability” for the purposes of the Equality Act 2010
understand when reasonable adjustments are necessary and what such adjustments might entail and
apply a practical step by step process when dealing with both intermittent and long term sickness absence.
This session would be beneficial to HR professionals and anyone with a responsibility for the management of employees.
This is a half day course starting at 9.30am and finishing with a light lunch and opportunity for informal discussion with our lawyers.
Register for the April Programme The highly successful Women’s Leadership Programme is now accepting applications for the April 2018 course. Open to women working in professional roles across the Eastern region, the leadership programme has made a huge difference with 66% of participants over the past three years having achieved a promotion or broadened their responsibilities. The programme was developed with an aim to support leaders to increase their leadership skills, develop their confidence and build a network of like-minded professionals What is the Women’s Leadership Programme? The Programme is designed to support the professional career development of high performing females, whilst working with their organisations to create an inclusive culture and build a strong talent pipeline for the future. The programme includes four days of facilitated learning, broken into two modules and enhanced by two coaching sessions, supported by a strong alumni network based in the Eastern Region continuing after the course finishes. The University of East Anglia offers the one year, full-time Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) teacher training route leading to Qualified Teacher Status and 60 credits at Masters Level.
