Flegg High School would like to deliver a STEM festival in March. We will be supporting them with Year 10 and 11 students.

‘STEM’ is an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths education. These areas are increasingly focussed on in education not only because the skills and knowledge in each discipline are essential for student success, but also because these fields are deeply intertwined in the real world and how students learn most effectively. It is also sometimes written as ‘STEMM’ with the additional M for medicine.

We are delivering the following activities:

  • Speed networking: bringing the Chamber’s expertise at business networking directly into schools. Small groups of students will have 3 mins with each business person, and rotate around the room until they have met each business! We will be encouraging students to break the ice by guessing the person’s job, and then give them an opportunity to ask more detailed questions.
  • Workshops: we are currently developing sessions with businesses in the construction and science sectors, as well as bringing to life subjects like maths.
  • Exhibition stands: for students to meet at break times, with Apprenticeships Norfolk and other provider stands.
  • Sign up to the ‘Find an Apprenticeship’ website to help students find these opportunities.
