Why Stress and Burnout Are Quietly Reshaping Our Lives – and What You Can Do About It
There’s a lot expected of us right now.
We’re constantly connected, always reachable, and juggling more than ever – whether it’s the pressure to succeed at work, stay switched-on in our social lives, or show up perfectly online. Phones buzz through dinner. Deadlines spill into weekends. Even downtime sometimes feels like a to-do list.
And somewhere in the middle of all that noise, stress begins to feel normal.
This isn’t just ‘being busy’
Stress and burnout often creep in quietly. You don’t wake up one day with a label. It builds in the background – through stretched capacity, too many tabs open (literally and mentally), a sense that there’s never quite enough time to catch your breath.
What starts as “just a lot on right now” can become:
- constant tiredness that sleep doesn’t fix
 - a short fuse, even when nothing’s gone wrong
 - feeling like your work – or life – is running you, not the other way around

Burnout can flatten your motivation, leave you emotionally detached, or blur the line between who you are and what you do.
Why this moment matters
We’ve normalised stress to the point where it feels like part of modern life – but it’s affecting everything from our health to our relationships, our energy, our confidence and our creativity.
And it’s not just a personal problem. More and more organisations are seeing how burnout affects team culture, staff turnover, and long-term success.
But awareness is rising. Conversations are shifting. And support is out there.
Let’s talk about it
That’s exactly why we’ve created this space within the Co.next community – for early-career professionals, future leaders, and anyone navigating work-life rhythms that feel out of sync.
On Wednesday 19th November, we’re bringing people together for a grounded, real-world conversation about managing stress and burnout – led by expert facilitator Charlie Pendlebury.
Charlie brings warmth, clarity and deep insight into wellbeing, inclusion, and how to make meaningful changes that last. This isn’t about a quick fix or generic advice – it’s about unpacking what’s really going on beneath the surface, and exploring what support looks like in practice.
Why come along?
- You’re feeling stretched and not sure how to switch off
 - You’ve seen stress becoming a theme among your team or peers
 - You’re interested in building better work-life boundaries
 - You want to feel more in control, less on edge

The Lunch and Learn is just 2 hours, in central Norwich (at Hardwick House), and costs just £9+VAT for members. Tea, coffee and lunch are included – and you’ll leave feeling more seen, supported, and resourced.
You’re not alone
If any of this resonates – you’re not the only one. Stress and burnout thrive in silence, but they lose power when we name them. When we come together, share stories, and get practical about what change can look like, everything starts to shift.
Join us. You’ll be met with honesty, empathy, and some genuinely helpful insight – all over a cuppa.
