Why are we here?
Billy French founded external services in 2010 to provide the sort of service that he always wanted when working in-house within the utilities, energy and banking sectors. Designed to fill the gap between businesses and their traditional advisors, external services fully accepts the need for traditional advisors, but recognises how their roles will change in the future to become more specialised.
What makes us different?
We believe that our business model is unique, there is no other business doing what we do the way that we do it. By combining legal, accounting, company secretarial and administrative skills with sector and industry experience we can offer multi-faceted support from the start.
How do we do it?
What we do does not always come easily. We believe in developing talented individuals that can specialise in certain areas, but also have a broad knowledge of our other services. The services we provide are so varied that we actively practice what we call boundary management to ensure that we only provide advice and support to the extent that we are competent to do so. It is for this reason that we actively encourage clients to retain their traditional advisors.
How do we work with your team?
At the core of our success has been the ability to dovetail into our clients’ existing teams and work as part of that team.
How do we work with your existing advisors?
Simple, as an extension of your existing team we liaise with your existing advisors from a position of knowledge and understanding, therefore maximising the quality of the advice that you obtain.
Where do we go from here?
We truly believe our business format is the way of the future and would love the opportunity to show you what we can do. Please feel free to contact us for a confidential and no obligation discussion on your potential needs.

We provide high-quality, doctor-led first aid training for workplaces, organisations, and community groups who want practical skills and genuine confidence in medical emergencies.
All courses are delivered by an experienced NHS doctor with a background in emergency care and education. Training focuses on realistic scenarios, clear decision-making, and hands-on practice, helping participants feel prepared rather than overwhelmed.

We also offer emergency kit assembly and verification, as well as medical cover for higher-risk events.
Named after the famous lighthouse that stood on the Isle of Pharos in Alexandria, Egypt, Pharos Marine began making aids to navigation more than 100 years ago.
The company’s founder, Gustav Dalen, had a distinguished career, winning a Nobel Prize when he introduced a system of acetylene gas lights capable of operating for a year without service.
To date, Pharos Marine Automatic Power, Inc. has provided products for some of the most famous navigation projects around the world, including the first oil rigs off the coast of Texas and the first buoys for the Panama Canal.
Today PMAPI continues to provide signaling, monitoring and power solutions, operating worldwide from offices in the United States, United Kingdom, and Singapore.
Our Services
The primary aim of the business is to improve and promote the economic, wellbeing and mental health of those who are disadvantaged and/or disabled, whilst contributing to the economy in our communities. The company is organised in three departments: Learning, Coaching and Advice; Employment and RF Works (six distinct social businesses). Together they provide professional and tailored opportunities that enhance people’s lives. As a Community Interest Company, we re-invest our profits back into the business. As an employer we lead by example – 40% of our workforce have a declared disability. Success for us is measured by the positive impact on the lives of those we support and the progress they make, as well as the profit we generate.
H W Webb (Engineers) Ltd is a fourth generation family run business. Having originated as a blacksmiths forge in 1907, a move was made towards engineering in 1983, and we became a limited company in 1995. We have a long-established history in precision engineering and continue to pride ourselves with machining components to a very high standard and exceeding customer expectations – we are certified to ISO standards 9001 and 14001. From the making and repairing of agricultural machinery back in the early nineteen hundreds, our forte has evolved into being a leading exponent of precision machining in all kinds of metals, alloys and plastics. Problem-solving by engineering is what we are about – we are always open to a challenge. Although we now offer state-of-the-art technology and engineering production facilities to 21st century businesses in leading industries such as nuclear, printing, firefighting, pharmaceutical and motor sport; we are still located at the same premises in Woodton, Norfolk.
Whist we provide a range of highly specialised precision machining services including CNC Turning, CNC Milling, 5 Axis Milling and Rapid Prototyping, we still take pride in having the same craftsman’s eye for detail and commitment to engineering and customer perfection as we have over the last 100 years.

Hi, I’m Jo. I’m freelance copywriter 👋
What does that mean? Good question!
No, I don’t copy writing and I’m not a ghost writer.
Basically, I chat with you and discover your story. The reason you started your business, what makes you unique.
I then use it to promote your business across your website, blogs, social media and more.
Because we all have a story of why we set up our business, what keeps you going when it’s stressful and lonely. And your customers want to know yours.
But I haven’t always been a copywriter.
For the past 20 years, I’ve worked as a journalist, covering every sort of story imaginable.
I most recently worked as a political reporter for the BBC in Norwich, covering the county’s biggest stories across TV, radio and online.
I even won a Royal Television Society award for New Talent On Screen for my coverage of the rollout of Universal Credit in Norwich.
But my life changed after I had my two children. I found I couldn’t be fully part of their lives when I was off reporting from one side of the county to another.
So, at the end of last year, I decided to walk away from the career that I’d loved and create a new life for myself.
So that’s how I became a copywriter. And now I get to work with amazing people and tell their stories.
Because that’s all journalism is. And that’s all copywriting is.
It’s finding the unique part of your business and making sure your customers and clients know about it.
People buy from people. Knowing your story helps your audience build a relationship with you. Then they trust you. Then they buy from you – over and over again.
So, if you fancy a chat over a coffee, drop me line at [email protected].
I’d love to find out more about you.
