The Norfolk Consumer Goods and China Export Workshop is a free, half day seminar for companies wanting to sell consumer goods in China. With one of the fastest growing economies in the world, an increase in middle earner spending and high demand for consumer goods, there has never been a better time to enter the Chinese market.
The seminar will be led by a number of industry specialists and traders with extensive experience of retail trade with China. The programme will cover consumer trends and behaviours, market research techniques, agent and distributor selection, intellectual property rights and protection, market strategy, developing consumer goods brands for the Chinese market and consumer goods distribution laws.
In addition to the workshop, Norfolk County Council is working with partners to host a trade mission to Jiangsu Province in China, during May 2013 (13th – 18th). We are building the mission around China’s largest International Import Expo, which will take place in Kunshan, near Shanghai.
The mission will represent businesses which operate in the offshore wind, energy management, and green buildings sectors, and will also provide a platform for companies that produce consumer goods. The programme will include one-to-one visits with potential partners and customers in China as well as a series of events at, and around one of China’s largest international trade fairs.
If you are interested in attending the 2013 trade mission to the China Import Expo in Jiangsu, China; or simply want to learn about exporting goods to China, you are welcome to join us on the 27th March.

Instructor Simon Bennett is a Software Consultant who works with Laravel daily, helping clients update there development practices and coding software for startups. He also runs his own SAAS for backing up DigitalOcean servers which of course is all built with basic Laravel. Prerequisites This beginners workshop will run through simple code as we learn about Laravel. Basic knowledge of PHP is required, I would recommend you know you know basic OOP. To save time on the day, you will be contacted directly before the workshop with a guide on setting up docker. The reason we use docker is to make sure we are using identical environments on Windows/Mac/Linux. Since Laravel used to build web-based applications (mostly), it would be helpful to a basic understanding of developing websites in PHP and MySQL.
