NEW OTR SESSION on POLITICS with STEFF AQUARONE, MP (LibDem)
Off The Record returns with a new salon session, exploring Youth, Politics, and Trust — in conversation with Steff Aquarone MP (LibDem).
Off The Record (OTR) is an independent salon for people who value honest conversation, intellectual depth, and the ability to engage with complex ideas in good faith. This is not a panel, not a speech, and not a networking event. It is a small, in-person conversation.
Steff Aquarone MP (North Norfolk) Liberal Democrat MP
This session explores one of the central tensions in modern public life: why trust in politics is eroding — and what that means for younger generations trying to engage with it.
We’ll look at politics not as an abstract system, but as something lived and navigated in real time — participation, disillusionment, representation, and the realities of entering public life today.
FORMAT This is a candid, in-person conversation with Steff Aquarone, where you get to ask the questions directly and engage in in-depth political discussions.
• Questions are encouraged • Honest answers are expected • Respect is non-negotiable
You don’t need to be an expert to attend. Curiosity and willingness to think matter far more than prior knowledge.
You’re not expected to speak if you don’t want to — listening is a valid way to participate.
🎟️ This session is offered without a ticket fee. Please purchase at least one drink from the venue. If you find value in these events and would like to support their continuation, you’re very welcome to do so:
🕵🏻♀️ IN THE WORLD OF PRIVATE INVESTIGATION WITH CHARLOTTE NOTLEY
What does a private investigator really do? In this behind-the-scenes talk, Charlotte Notley, founder of Taylor Investigations, shares the realities of working as a modern private investigator. Moving beyond the myths created by television and film, Charlotte will discuss how she entered the profession, the unexpected learning curves she faced, and the complex human stories that often sit at the heart of investigations. From deception and fraud to difficult ethical decisions, this conversation explores how trust is built and broken in everyday life, the mistakes people make when they try to uncover the truth themselves, and how we can better protect ourselves in an increasingly complicated world. Through real-life insights, surprising moments from cases, and reflections on charity and pro-bono work, this talk offers a rare glimpse into a profession that quietly operates behind the scenes of everyday life.
*** 🌿 ABOUT OFF THE RECORD
Off The Record (OTR) is an independent discussion community for people who value honest conversation, critical thinking, and intellectual depth. OTR salon sessions are designed as open, respectful spaces to learn new things, explore complex topics beyond slogans, soundbites, or performative debate — with curiosity, nuance, and good faith at the centre.
You can find like-minded people or agree to disagree. Your participation can range from active engagement to quiet listening.
Join another one of our Off The Record Salon Sessions — this time we are raising a conversation around the topic of AI, and doing so in the most OTR style of aiming for the most in-depth, intellectually-stimulating conversation from a human perspective.
We are inviting you to an evening of conversation on AI — from its Pros to Cons — aiming to cover the entire spectrum of the topic, rather than hailing only one of its aspects, allowing you to learn and understand more, and enabling you to think for yourself (however much all of that can be done within the space of one evening).
As usual, you have the added benefit of being able to listen to — and to directly engage with our speakers (as well as each other) regarding any thoughts, queries or questions you may have. As usual, you as the audience have a free reign on the twists and turns of the conversation, which is the big part of the appeal and the fun.
You do not need to be an expert — or even in any way familiar with the topic of AI. You are also not obliged to participate — you can simply sit and listen. The only thing that is requested is to be curious about the subject and to keep an open mind. Questioning and critical thinking are heavily encouraged.

🗣️OUR SPEAKERS: Fas Mosleh and Patrick Hussey (the founder and owner of the Good Transformer), who will be talking about the two diametrically opposed aspects of AI.
This is not to say that they only see AI as one or the other, but these positions will help us explore the full range of complexity in one sitting.
🙋♂️IN THE “PRO” CAMP: Fas Mosleh brings a rare combination of deep technical and real-world industry experience. Having spent part of his career in Silicon Valley — what he calls his “real-life education” — he has worked with companies such as IBM, HP, and Kodak across areas including cloud infrastructure, imaging technologies, and early-stage innovation. He has been directly involved in the development of technologies that later became mainstream, including early front-facing cameras, mobile imaging, and image recognition systems. Today, Fas focuses on how emerging technologies like AI are reshaping industries, combining a practical understanding of how these systems are built with a broader perspective on where they are taking us.
🙅♂️IN THE “CON” CAMP: Patrick Hussey is the founder of GoodTransformer, where he works with businesses, charities, and organisations to help them navigate and adapt to the rapidly evolving AI landscape. His focus is not just on tools, but on transformation — how AI changes decision-making, structures, and long-term strategy. Alongside the opportunities, Patrick is one of the few voices who openly addresses the more difficult questions around AI — from technical limitations to its broader human and societal impact.
To re-iterate — you do NOT need to be a tech-head or an expert on AI to attend. You simply need to be interested in the topic, be willing to listen and learn.

We’ve been quietly building something serious underneath a former RAF base in Norfolk. The same AI that powered Britain’s first self-driving car, NHS hospital robots, and RAF trials, turned into a full enterprise platform. Athena is an artifitial intelligence that runs entirely on your own hardware. Nothing goes to the cloud. Nothing leaves your building. Full audit trail. GDPR-aligned by design. We’re not doing a conventional launch. We’re inviting a small number of Norfolk business owners underground to see it running live. No slides. No pitch deck. If you’re in financial services, healthcare, legal, or any regulated sector where data sovereignty actually matters — we’d love you to see it in action on the 9th April here at RAF Neatishead. Places are strictly limited and by application only. Click here if you’d like to come alonghttps://academyofrobotics.co.uk/athena/
