The coronavirus pandemic has created new issues to consider when managing workplace absence.
About this Event
The coronavirus pandemic has created new issues to consider when managing workplace absence: employees who are shielding, reluctant to come back into the workplace or looking after vulnerable relatives. This workshop will give practical tips on how to deal with employee absence management, as well as the legal context. We will also look at how to handle short term and long term sickness absence and how to get the best from Occupational Health advisers.
Calling all brilliant women currently working in STEMM – we need you to inspire the next generation!

The evening will combine people from the industry – as many different branches as possible – and University Departments or Apprenticeship representatives. After a quick welcome and introduction, the students to go to pre-selected ‘breakout groups’ where they can meet, hear from and ask questions of, women currently successfully working in these fields.
We are hoping to gather a brilliant group of women representing the following areas for breakout discussion groups:
Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering and Consultancy, Engineering – Energy production and supply, Civil Engineering , Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Electronic/Electrical Engineering, Computer Science Engineering and Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary Science
Please do get in touch if you feel you or a member of your team could take part in this event – it won’t take more than an hour of your time, it will take place on-line via Teams and it could make the difference and inspire a young female scientist of the future!

Help your staff learn how to protect themselves and your organisation from cyber criminals both in the workplace and at home.
About this training course
Almost half of all organisations in the UK fall victim to cyber security breaches every year, and over 80% of these involve some form of human error. These incidents often lead to personal data breaches, interruption to business through Ransomware, financial loss through invoice fraud and reputational damage, so ensuring your staff have the awareness to make informed security decisions is key to prevention and detection.
This is not your standard computer based training. It’s highly interactive with attendees working together in group exercises to deeper understand why cyber security breaches happen and how to spot them.
Delivered by our experienced security consultants who have a wealth of real world experience this training will be of value to both your business and your employees personally.
No specific technical knowledge is required; however, an appreciation of how you use technology in your role will ensure maximum benefit is gained from the course.
By participating in this course, you will:
Learn what cyber security is and why everyone is a target
Learn how to prevent common forms of human error
Learn about key types of cyber incidents
Understand to protect yourself at work and at home

Aimed at helping businesses who are considering pursuing ISO 27001 certification to understand the requirements and preparations required.
About this training course
This ISO 27001 training course is aimed at helping businesses who are considering pursuing ISO 27001 certification to understand the requirements and preparations required.
Armed with a greater understanding of the process, organisations can make an informed decision about whether this is right for them.
ISO 27001 is a standard that provides requirements for setting up and managing an information security management system (ISMS). The standard helps organisations manage security threats facing critical assets, such as intellectual property, financial systems and data, employee details, customer or client data, and information concerning trusted third parties.
It specifies the requirements needed to establish, implement, maintain, and the continued improvement of ISMS within a company’s context.
ISO 27001 is often used as a framework to help achieve a higher standard of security within an organisation. Increasingly, ISO 27001 certification may be a requirement by a partnering business in the supply chain used to validate a strong focus on information security.
Delivered by a UKAS accredited ISO2 27001 Lead Auditor, this 1 day workshop focuses on preparing you for the ISO 27001 accreditation process and providing a better understanding of:

UK’s Generalised Scheme of Preferences
Exports of dual use items from GB to EU
Trade Remedies
We will also share sources of transition guidance and support, including signposting to webinars run by other Departments. Speakers include:
Graham Zebedee, Director, Continuity Negotiations and Development
