What is the ‘Origin’ of these goods? It can appear like an easy question, but it can be a bit more complicated to answer. Under the EU Trade and Co-operation Agreement the rules extend to 37 pages, in the Economic Partnership Agreement with Japan they run to 27. Each set of rules is broadly similar but its the product specific details that provide advantage for each party.
This webinar will aim to help identify where trade agreements can deliver competitive advantage for businesses in the UK. We will be joined both by experts on maximising the benefit of tariff free deals and by colleagues from the Department of International Trade who are negotiating to increase free trade and expand our exports into new markets.
Speakers include:
Liam Smyth – Director of Trade Facilitation at the British Chambers of Commerce & Managing Director at ChamberCustoms
Neil Feinson – Deputy Director, Competition and Goods Policy, Department for International Trade (DIT)
Your Company’s success in the field of exporting hinges upon the practical knowledge and expertise of the staff involved and the confidence and competence with which they deal with customers, freight forwarders, banks and carriers.
This full day accredited course creates confidence and proficiency through clarifying and educating on any export documentation.
By the end of the course the delegates will be able to:
Produce export documentation
Identify sources of international information and assistance
Identify modes of transport and their relative advantages and disadvantages
One of the ‘core 10’ courses accredited by the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC). Candidates achieving Pass or Merit in the course will receive a certificate. Those who pass 6 individual courses will achieve a nationally recognised Foundation Award in International Trade.

Norfolk Chamber is passionate about bridging the gap between business and young people. We are continuing our engagement with schools through our Young Chamber school membership programme, on which we currently have 12 schools and 4 colleges as members. We also have a ‘Young Chamber Board’ to help us develop how businesses work more effectively with young people, especially in schools.
We feel that it is important that business individuals working in schools are supported, so we have developed a short training course to help businesses to feel more confident working with young people in a school environment.
The sessions will be delivered at Norfolk Chamber’s Norwich office by the Skills Service UK. The informative practical workshop will cover:
Information about schools, Key Stages, qualifications and terminology
Safeguarding introduction and do’s and don’ts
How to communicate effectively with young people
Understanding perceptions of young people and how they think
How employers can successfully engage with young people
Listening skills and learning styles
Examples of activities to do in schools
Places are limited, so will be allocated on a first come first served basis
Turning Strategy into action – What does your business need to grow? Join us to help shape the delivery plans for the new Economic Strategy for Norfolk and Suffolk. The strategy identifies the key themes and opportunities for the region’s businesses and now we need you to help us create the delivery plans. You’ll have a chance to tell us what activity is already under way in your business and what you have planned for the coming years.

Do you know what an Incoterm is and which one you should use for your export? Used in sales contracts worldwide, Incoterms define the risks and responsibilities of a buyer and seller in an international sales contract.
A new version of Incoterms has been published in September 2019 for implementation in January 2020 and we have arranged for an update course to make the latest information available. The Incoterms® Rules are an essential business tool for international trade because they define the risk and cost responsibilities of each party when arranging loading/unloading of the goods, delivery, import export clearance and freight contracts. They may be used in contract negotiations, as a checklist for buyers and sellers and as a framework for international and domestic sales contracts.
What does it cover?
Introduction to Incoterms – what they are? what do they do?
The purpose of Incoterms
Incoterms® 2020
The structure and layout
The importance of understanding when delivery takes place and how that impacts on the transfer of risk between seller and buyer
Practical issues around Incoterms® – the pros and cons
Negotiating Incoterms
Who Should Attend?
Anyone who is involved in International Trade such as: accounts, purchasing/buyers, freight forwarders, shipping, goods inward staff to name a few.
This full day course looks at the Incoterms® Rules will consider the general features of the rules and will examine each one. The principal differences between old and new rules and changing obligations of the parties will be highlighted.
