The First Aid at work course is ideal for the person chosen to be the nominated First Aider. It is ideal for the small organisation who require one First Aider or the larger organisation who require a team of First Aiders.
This course provides learners with: •understand the role of the first aider including reference to the use of available equipment and the need for recording incidents and actions; •understand the importance of basic hygiene in first-aid procedures; •assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency; •administer first aid to a casualty who is unconscious and/or in seizure; •administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation; •administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded or bleeding and/or in shock; •administer first aid to a casualty who is choking; •provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries. •recognising the presence of major illness and applying general first aid principles in its management. •In addition, candidates should be able to demonstrate the correct first-aid management of: •soft tissue injuries; •injuries to bones including suspected spinal injuries; •chest injuries; •burns and scalds; •eye injuries including how to irrigate an eye; •sudden poisoning and anaphylactic shock.

Highfield Awarding Body for Compliance (HABC) Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering
This course enables attendees to take personal responsibility for following food safety procedures, keep themselves clean and hygienic, receive and store food safely and prepare, cook and hot hold food safely. Please specify at booking whether you require the Catering or Manufacturing qualification.
By the end of the course, employees who handle food will gain a firm grasp of the importance of food safety systems, techniques and the procedures involved, an appreciation of Food Safety Hazards and the confidence and expertise to deliver food safely to customers.
Equipment: No equipment is necessary for you to bring to the course. Pens and note paper will be available.
Lunch provided: On full day training courses a sandwich lunch with crisps, cakes and fruit will be provided. Refreshments will be available throughout the duration of this course.
Please note that it is a requirement of the HABC, the awarding body, that we need to see photographic proof of identity of each candidate before they can be entered into the exam, for example, passport, driving licence, student union card or work pass.

It would also benefit those responsible for quality assurance, raw materials buying, customer complaints investigations or on-the-job training. It is particularly relevant for those that have to develop or monitor HACCP based food safety management procedures and systems.
