With competition for customer’s attention becoming ever fiercer, a new chamber member aims to help local businesses develop a competitive advantage through marketing.
“Marketing is key to growth for lots of Norfolk businesses” says Sarah West, Managing Director of Full Mix Marketing. “However, many are unsure where to begin or disappointed by their current results. Our ambition is to become the fastest growing marketing agency in Norfolk, simply by helping our clients become some of the fastest growing companies.”
A Chartered Marketer and former winner of Young Marketer of the Year, Sarah has most recently been Strategic Marketing Manager for leading UK holiday company, Hoseasons. She’s now established a strategic, digital and offline marketing agency to give local businesses all the marketing they need to grow.
“I’ve hired many marketing agencies but become frustrated by their focus on design rather than results. Whether it’s a website, direct mail campaign or full marketing strategy, it has to produce more business. Whatever our client’s size or needs, we’re focused on ensuring the marketing we deliver creates the best possible return” adds Sarah.
To help businesses get a head start, Full Mix Marketing have created a number of free guides, including advice on how to use marketing to grow, avoid digital marketing mistakes and get better results from advertising. These can be downloaded free by chamber members at fullmixmarketing.co.uk/guides.
“We understand that – large or small – businesses in Norfolk invest in marketing because they want to see a return. It doesn’t make sense to just pay for activity when its results you need. Because we’re confident we can improve results, we even offer our clients a guarantee” states Sarah.
As to why she joined Norfolk Chamber, Sarah says “I’ve previously worked for three businesses who were active members of the chamber. It gave them a voice in the business community and, of course, helped them grow. When I started my own business, I naturally wanted to become an active member.”
Full Mix Marketing’s free guides and details of their guarantee can all be found at www.fullmixmarketing.co.uk

Greater Anglia has installed life-saving heart resuscitators at more of its stations in Cambridgeshire, Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk.
Fifteen Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) have been installed at Alresford, Braintree, Braintree Freeport, Bury St Edmunds, Cambridge North, Chappel & Wakes Colne, Cheshunt, Diss, Needham Market, Sawbridgeworth, Soham, Stowmarket, Thetford, Waltham Cross and Weeley.
The defibrillators are small, safe and lightweight and deliver a shock to treat someone in cardiac arrest.
They can also monitor the heart’s activity and give instructions to the users.
Anyone can use them. If there is an incident on the station, call 999 to be given a code to open the defibrillator’s storage box and follow the instructions given.
It follows the recent installation of five defibrillators at stations between Hertford East and Broxbourne in Hertfordshire.
Greater Anglia’s Head of Facilities Management, Mark Ellis, said, “Statistics show that 20% of cardiac arrests occur in a public place.
“There is compelling evidence that defibrillation at the earliest possible point after a person collapses can significantly increase their chances of survival, so it’s vital that this life saving equipment is available in public places, particularly somewhere very busy like rail stations.”
“The installation of these defibrillators means that we are better prepared to provide assistance in the event of a first aid emergency.”

It is safe to say at Hands On At Work, we are buzzing!
Our accounts for the 2023 2024 financial year confirm it to be our best year yet, with turnover and profit increased from previous years telling us businesses are treating employee health and wellbeing with the seriousness it deserves.
Wellbeing in the workplace covers an enormous number of areas such as, health and safety, employee assistance, environment, workload management, HR support, occupational health and wellbeing activities and much more.
What Hands On At Work offers is just a piece of the jigsaw but a valuable one nevertheless and we have expanded our services to meet client demands. The flipside of our expansion means we are also looking for more people to join our team or work with us in collaboration.
We are looking for great, qualified massage therapists to get in touch and chat about working with us alongside their own businesses and local yoga practitioners to offer yoga classes to businesses both onsite and online.
We would also like to hear from other wellbeing providers to see if we can work together to support each other’s businesses.

More than half of tourism businesses in the
east of England are anticipating turnover growth this year, according to
Larking Gowen’s Tourism Business Survey 2025 published on 12 June.
The survey outlines a sector where 55% of
businesses projected income growth for 2025, compared to 25% anticipating a
downturn.
The sense of optimism is tempered by worries
about a backdrop of financial pressures including the state of the economy,
inflation, rising employee costs and the loss of business rate relief.
With challenges in the economy, respondents
were asked about plans for investment. 52% said they would be investing in site
improvements (compared to 59% last year) and 53% said they would put additional
investment into marketing and PR (36% last year).
Responding to increased costs in the sector,
56% said they would increase prices, 40% would reduce operating costs, while
26% said they would spend more to increase their offering.
Jo Burton, Tourism, Leisure and Hospitality
Director at Larking Gowen, said: “As we entered 2025, a sense of cautious
optimism seemed to return. But behind this optimism lies a shared reality, with
many businesses having to raise prices to manage rising costs.”
“While 37% of participants enjoyed a
rise in profitability – up from 23% in 2023 – an equal number saw a decline.
Still, confidence shone through, with 43% expecting profits to rise, 31%
predicting a fall, and the remainder expecting no change,” she said.
Changes to the National Minimum Wage and
National Insurance have hit hard. UK Hospitality has calculated that the
average cost per full-time employee will increase by £2,500 per annum with
increases of 18% for employing under-18s and 16% for 18-20-year-olds.
25% of businesses are considering staff
reductions, and 25% said they had no plans to increase salaries for employees
above the statutory minimums.
Wellbeing came through strongly in the
survey, not just for staff but also for business owners and visitors, with 45%
saying they had made changes to improve visitor wellbeing, and 48% saying
demand for these changes is growing.
Chris Scargill, Tourism, Leisure and
Hospitality Partner at Larking Gowen, said: “The sector continues to
operate in a period of instability and uncertainty caused by factors beyond its
control.
“While there clearly are challenges,
there remains an underlying resilience and a hard-core work ethic which means
there is still optimism and a focus on investment.”
Regional
business leaders in the tourism sector attended a seminar yesterday at Prospect
House, Norwich, to discuss the findings of the survey.
The Larking Gowen Tourism Business Survey
2025 can be found here
The
survey results are presented in a brochure which includes interviews with
business leaders and heads of Destination Marketing Organisations, covering a
range of subjects including optimism, staffing, investment, marketing,
collaboration, AI and the impact of Sizewell C.
The
survey was sponsored by SwissCamplings and Birketts.
