BIG FEELINGS – 10 Week Children’s Emotional Wellbeing Programme

Big Feelings – 10-Week Children’s Emotional Wellbeing Programme

Helping children understand their emotions, build confidence and develop skills for life.

Eudaemonia Wellbeing Centre is delighted to introduce Big Feelings, a supportive 10-week emotional wellbeing programme for children aged 6–11 years.

Growing up comes with lots of emotions. For some children, feelings such as anger, worry, frustration, sadness or overwhelm can feel particularly difficult to understand and manage.

Big Feelings provides children with a safe, welcoming and engaging space to explore their emotions, develop their emotional vocabulary and learn practical strategies they can use at home, at school and in everyday life.

What will children explore?

Throughout the 10-week programme, children will be supported to:

  • – Recognise, understand and name different emotions
  • – Notice how emotions can feel within their bodies
  • – Identify triggers and early signs of becoming overwhelmed
  • – Develop confidence talking about their feelings
  • – Understand anger, frustration and other strong emotions
  • – Learn practical calming and emotional regulation strategies
  • – Build confidence, self-esteem and resilience
  • – Develop empathy and an understanding of other people’s feelings
  • – Learn when and how to ask for help
  • – Create their own emotional wellbeing toolkit

Sessions are designed to be interactive, creative and age appropriate, incorporating activities, discussion, practical exercises and emotional wellbeing strategies.

Children will never be pressured to share personal experiences within the group and will be encouraged to participate at a level that feels comfortable for them.

Two age-appropriate groups

To ensure children receive support appropriate to their developmental stage, Big Feelings will run as two separate Saturday groups:

Ages 6–8
🕤 Saturdays, 9:30am–10:30am

Ages 9–11
🕚 Saturdays, 11:00am–12:00pm

📅 Programme begins Saturday 14 November 2026
📍 Eudaemonia Wellbeing Centre, Norwich
⏳ 10-week programme

Groups will intentionally remain small to provide a supportive environment where children have the opportunity to feel heard, included and comfortable.

Who is Big Feelings for?

The programme may be particularly helpful for children who:

  • – Become overwhelmed by their emotions
  • – Experience frustration or emotional outbursts
  • – Find it difficult to explain how they feel
  • – Bottle up their emotions
  • – Experience worries or overthinking
  • – Find unexpected changes challenging
  • – Struggle with confidence or self-esteem
  • – Would benefit from developing greater emotional awareness and resilience

Children do not need a diagnosis to participate.

Big Feelings is an early-intervention emotional wellbeing programme rather than therapy or mental health treatment. Parents/carers will complete a short suitability form before a place is confirmed so that we can make sure the programme is appropriate for their child.

Supporting families too

We believe children’s emotional wellbeing is best supported when the adults around them understand the tools and strategies they are learning.

Parents and carers will therefore receive information and practical ideas throughout the programme to help reinforce their child’s learning at home.

Why Big Feelings?

We can’t prevent children from experiencing difficult emotions, but we can give them the skills to recognise what’s happening, communicate what they need and find healthy ways to manage those feelings.

Our aim is for every child to leave Big Feelings with greater:

Understanding • Confidence • Emotional vocabulary • Resilience • Coping strategies

and, importantly, a toolkit they can continue to use as they grow.
