BUILD is a Norfolk based independent registered charity providing social, leisure and learning opportunities to anyone, with any disability, aged 18 or over in Norfolk.

Established in Norwich 1967, The BUILD Charity provides a wide range of integrated community-based activities across Norfolk, with opportunities to take part in social clubs, gardening, outdoor and cultural activities as well as skills learning workshops. BUILD does not provide medical or personal care but welcomes people who want to use its services to bring that care with them.

We support people with disabilities to enjoy the kind of social life that most of us take for granted through a programme based on informed choice delivered mostly by trained volunteers and co-ordinated by a small professional team of paid staff. Our activities are arranged in a three-monthly programme and make up around 300 activities every year.

Our core services are:

Wednesday Club – a weekly evening social club in Norwich https://www.buildcharity.co.uk/wednesdayclub

Community Activities Programme – weekday evening and weekend activities in local pubs, restaurants, gyms, bowling alleys, cinemas etc https://www.buildcharity.co.uk/communityopportunties

Skills for Life -learning that improves opportunities for greater independent living  https://www.buildcharity.co.uk/skillsforlife

GetAways Programme – days out, short breaks and holidays https://www.buildcharity.co.uk/getaways

Fuse Parties -nightclub experiences in Norwich and Kings Lynn https://www.buildcharity.co.uk/fuse-parties

We employ a small, but highly skilled staff team (4) and rely on a fantastic team of volunteers (80) around 15% of whom are people with disabilities themselves providing peer support. To find out more about volunteering with the BUILD Charity visit https://www.buildcharity.co.uk/volunteering

We receive no public funding for our services and are reliant on grants from other charitable trusts, local fundraising, private and corporate gifts but are always keen to engage in mutually beneficial partnerships with our funders so there is a Win/Win to any arrangement.
