Doctor-Led First Response Emergency Care (FREC 3) – 5-Day Course
When an accident happens at work, what can your team do
before the ambulance arrives?
Whether you’re working at height, operating heavy
machinery, welding, managing a construction site or working somewhere remote, a
serious injury can happen in seconds. And when emergency services are still on
their way, having someone on site with the right skills can make a critical
difference.
Our five-day First Response Emergency Care course goes beyond standard workplace first aid, equipping participants with the practical skills and confidence to manage more serious medical emergencies.
Who is this course for?
Ideal for businesses and individuals working in
environments where accidents can have serious consequences, including:
- Tree
surgery, forestry and landscaping – falls, chainsaw injuries and major
bleeding. - Construction
and engineering – crush injuries, falls from height and machinery-related
accidents. - Welding,
fabrication and manufacturing – burns, serious injuries and industrial
emergencies. - Agriculture
and remote working – emergencies where professional medical help may take
longer to arrive. - Event
medical and security personnel – managing casualties, complex incidents
and multiple patients.
No previous first aid qualification is required.
What will participants learn?
This nationally recognised, Qualsafe-certified
prehospital care qualification develops skills beyond those typically covered
in a workplace first aid course, including:
- Life-threatening
bleeding control and casualty assessment - Advanced
airway management, including oral, nasal and supraglottic airway devices - Breathing
support, ventilation and administration of medical gases - Assessment
and management of suspected spinal injuries - Safe
use of stretchers, scoop stretchers and spinal boards - Emergency
scene management and multiple-casualty triage
Why train with Dr McKay Medical Services?
Learn from a doctor who has treated the injuries you’re
training to manage.
Training is delivered by an approachable NHS-experienced
doctor with over 10 years’ experience across emergency medicine, trauma,
orthopaedics and remote medicine.
Rather than simply memorising procedures, participants
learn why interventions matter, how to avoid common mistakes, and how to
make sound decisions under pressure.
Expect hands-on practice, realistic workplace scenarios
and footage of real emergencies, with training that can be tailored to the
risks and challenges of your industry.
The aim isn’t simply to pass an assessment. It’s to
develop first responders who are calm, confident and capable when it matters.
