Based in Hingham, Saffire is a proper Norfolk family-business success story.
The business was founded in 2005 by Kathrin Funnell’s grandmother, Angela, after she completed a chocolate-making diploma and spent six months in Belgium. Kat joined the family business at just 14, took over the reins in 2023 and, in January 2026, opened Saffire’s dedicated production unit in Hingham.
Today, that unit is a little hub of chocolate activity.
It’s where Kat handcrafts Saffire’s Belgian chocolates in small batches, develops products and grows the next chapter of the family business. Saffire also offers chocolate-making experiences alongside its retail, wholesale, corporate gifting and wedding ranges.
