The Smyths formed back in 2003 because of their passion for The Smiths. They didn’t just want to be a tribute band – They wanted to play the music of The Smiths and recreate what is was to see and hear The Smiths live – it just happens that when you do that, the world calls you a tribute. For them that was a world of silly wigs and props – everything they felt a homage to The Smiths shouldn’t be. So they spent a year rehearsing every week to make sure that when they launched they sounded genuine – The Smiths and their fans (like them) demand nothing less. The band focussed on the sound and spirit of The Smiths live.
Fast forward 11 years and some 500 shows later and they see and hear themselves now spoken of as being in the top tier of tributes globally. The years in between have seen them play throughout the UK, overseas and at major festivals such as Glastonbury. They’ve appeared on numerous TV and radio shows and many a newspaper column written. The word tribute has also developed and grown in respect in that time, coming to represent something that is not silly or trite but the best way to see and experience the music of bands no longer with them played by artists who are as passionate and dedicated to their shows as actors and actresses.

Bossa Nova = Nouvelle Vague = New Wave. This transliteration was the starting point for Marc Collin and Olivier Libaux’s unique project, which, by appropriating the punk and post-punk cannon and running it through the Bossa Nova filter, reinvented the cover band genre, revealing new and brilliant talents along the way: Camille, Phoebe Killdeer, Nadeah, Mélanie Pain, and Liset Alea.
The group’s first two albums, ‘Nouvelle Vague’ (2004) and ‘Bande A Part’ (2006) defined their unique sound with Bossa versions of New Wave Classics. Their third album ‘NV3′ (2009) featured collaborations with Depeche Mode’s Martin Gore, Ian McCullouch from Echo and the Bunnymen, Terry Hall from The Specials, Barry Adamson, The Saints & Minimal Compact.
Nouvelle Vague are Marc Collin, Olivier Libaux, Mélanie Pain, Elodie Frégé, and Liset Alea.
