Being our last event of the year, the Christmas Breakfast was a great opportunity to wrap up 2013 with the Chamber at the Sprowston Manor. Delegates commented on the great atmosphere and the event went above and beyond, exceeding expectations. Andy Gillies, Gillies Associates said ‘it was relaxed, friendly and great to network in a relaxed atmosphere. I thoroughly enjoyed it.’
The morning started off with the ‘Name that Christmas Tune’ icebreaker which proved great fun and brought out the competitiveness of delegates. Breakfast followed and delegates took full advantage of the networking opportunity.
Our featured Charity Break, well known for their Go Go Gorillas Campaign, gave delegates an opportunity to bring a gift for young people setting up their first home. Break were overwhelmed with the generosity of all the businesses who attended. Michael Rooney, Fundraising Manager from Break spoke about the Moving On project delegates contributed to and what Break has planned for 2014. Michael Rooney said ‘An enormous thank you to everyone who donated a gift, we will let people know when they have been distributed and how they were received. This changes young lives.’
A Safari Network Move got delegates circulating and networking with other businesses. Four businesses had the opportunity to showcase their business in our 60 second spotlight. Finally delegates networked over a memory icebreaker. As well as testing your memory, each delegate shared a fact about their business they are proud of.
Norman Wilson, WLP: ‘Have grown by 50% in 2013.’
Richard Moore, Business Wealth Club: ‘Enquiry conversions up 100%, cost per conversion down 50% through video.’
Brendan Landsdown, Dingles Motor Group: ‘3rd Generation family business established in Norfolk since 1919.’
There was no better way to finish off 2013 then a morning full of networking opportunities, fun, festivity, interactive ice breakers, Christmas music in a relaxed and informal setting.
We are excited to be bridging the gap from military service to civilian workplace. 🤝
This event aims to introduce ex-service veterans to employers who can provide them with exciting opportunities for their future careers. 💼
It is a great pleasure to work with the Department of Work and Pensions in partnership to run this event and also have the full support of RAF Marham and Swanton Morley who are looking to release and introduce personnel who are in the process of leaving.
Let’s work together to create a future of endless possibilities for our ex-veterans in the civilian workforce.

On Friday 9 May over 80 Norfolk & Cambridgeshire Chamber Members attended our standing room only business breakfast to get the unique opportunity to network with neighbouring chamber members. Delegates heard from the two Local Enterprise Partnership’s that border West Norfolk and King’s Lynn & West Norfolk Borough Council.
The breakfast took place in the Great Barn at Knights Hill Hotel with our host for the morning, Norfolk Chamber President, Ian Hacon taking the delegates through the agenda. Ian introduced our event featured charity, King’s Lynn Festival, who told us about how the festival helps King’s Lynn and how support of their events is crucial.
The breakfast was buzzing with conversation as the cross-county networking started with one or our trademark ice breaker activities, guess my CV. Networking continued over breakfast and our safari networking got the delegates to take a seat at a new table and meet new people, making even more connections.
It was then time to hear from our panel of three keynote speakers; Chris Starkie, New Anglia LEP, Graham Nix, Greater Cambridge Greater Peterborough LEP& Cllr Nick Daubney, Borough Council of King’s Lynn & West Norfolk about the progress they have made locally in the past year and their aims for the next 12 months.
Chris Starkie said “New Anglia LEP are aiming to have 95,000 more jobs by 2026”
Grahame Nix highlighted GCGP’s “Growing Places fund £500k in 12 £30k grants to charity – employment that are available to West Norfolk.”
Watch out for the Borough Council of King’s Lynn & West Norfolk “local investment board” that will be with us soon.
A Q&A session then took place with various questions from delegates to better understand the opportunities and funding that are open to them as a business and how they can influence their LEPs plans for the coming year.
Delegates had a lot of positive things to talk about on twitter;
