Highfield Awarding Body for Compliance (HABC) Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering
This course enables attendees to take personal responsibility for following food safety procedures, keep themselves clean and hygienic, receive and store food safely and prepare, cook and hot hold food safely. Please specify at booking whether you require the Catering or Manufacturing qualification.
By the end of the course, employees who handle food will gain a firm grasp of the importance of food safety systems, techniques and the procedures involved, an appreciation of Food Safety Hazards and the confidence and expertise to deliver food safely to customers.
Equipment: No equipment is necessary for you to bring to the course. Pens and note paper will be available.
Lunch provided: On full day training courses a sandwich lunch with crisps, cakes and fruit will be provided. Refreshments will be available throughout the duration of this course.
Please note that it is a requirement of the HABC, the awarding body, that we need to see photographic proof of identity of each candidate before they can be entered into the exam, for example, passport, driving licence, student union card or work pass.

Subject to passing a 20 question multiple choice exam paper delegates will gain the Highfield Awarding Body for Compliance Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering or Manufacturing. It is recommended that this qualification is refreshed between every 3 and 5 years. You will be given a HABC Food Safety in Catering manual to take away and keep after the course for future reference.

This CIEH Level 2 Award in Food Safety course is ideal for those working in a catering, manufacturing or retail setting where food is prepared, cooked and handled.
This one-day course covers legislation, food safety hazards, temperature control, refrigeration, chilling and cold holding, cooking, hot holding and reheating, food handling, principles of safe food storage, cleaning food premises and equipment.
On successful completion of this course and on passing the 30 question multiple choice assessment, the delegate will receive a Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) accredited food safety certificate. This qualification is designed for people working in food businesses at a supervisory level. It would also benefit those responsible for quality assurance, raw materials buying, customer complaints investigations or on-the-job training. Candidates who complete this training successfully will be able to supervise and train in food hygiene, and monitor and audit hygiene standards. It is particularly relevant for those that have to develop or monitor HACCP based food safety management procedures and systems.
