March Seminar – Wednesday 19th March, Henderson Business Centre, Norwich
8.15am for 8.30am start (A light breakfast available)
12.15pm for 12.30pm start (A light lunch available)
Pensions may be complicated but retirement shouldn’t be a mystery
Of value to both professional advisers and private clients, our seminars aim to give you a good introductory understanding of issues underpinning some of our more important financial decisions. The tone is relaxed but professional and discussion among the group is encouraged. Richard is a skilled communicator whose interest and enthusiasm enlivens apparently mundane subjects, making for engaging, thought provoking and informative sessions.
The choices you make as you approach retirement could have lasting effects. This session will take you through pensions in a clear and straightforward manner. We will look in particular at options as you approach retirement. We will also look at alternative income sources, showing how a combined approach can make the most of tax reliefs, alongside the concept of a two-stage retirement to stretch pension income further.
With annuity rates at historically low levels a better understanding of your options is an essential first step towards effective planning.
Our first Early Bird seminar for 2014 will offer an indispensable guide to the covert monitoring of employees’ activities.
We will provide practical guidance on ….
> the procedural steps you must take before you covertly monitor employees; > the limitations on what you can monitor, for what purposes, for how long; and > how to use covert evidence in disciplinary and tribunal hearings.
Employee surveillance can take many forms. Do you, or are you considering ….
> monitoring employees’ email and internet traffic? > operating CCTV on your premises? > tracking your company vehicles? > using evidence from social media? > monitoring a sick employee suspected of malingering?
If so, our Early Bird seminar will help to ensure that you make fair and appropriate use of the information you obtain without infringing privacy laws, such as the Data Protection and Human Rights Acts.
All delegates will benefit from a practical case study that explores common privacy issues and you will receive a helpful checklist on employee monitoring.

Norwich For Jobs is proud to invite you to celebrate 6 years of success in supporting young people into employment and taking steps to become job-ready.
On Friday 25th January 2019 we are hosting an exciting event, where we will be renewing our appeal to the Norwich community and making it even easier for local employers to get involved. We will be updating you on our work, and giving you a chance to hear back from employers and young people who have worked with us. We will also be presenting some special certificates.
If you already have a Norwich For Jobs Certificate, please bring it with you to our event for a large group photograph!
We are confident that our event will be unlike anything you have been to before: we will be running a Reverse Jobs Fair!
Our young people often feel daunted by approaching employers at jobs fairs, so we are asking you to approach them at sector-specific stalls to talk about working in their industry, read their CVs and offer advice and discuss work experience and employment opportunities.
We are also running Advice Stations for Employers where you can come for advice on a variety of topics, including Mental Health in the workplace, Apprenticeship Advice, Professional Advice from the FSB and the Norfolk Chamber of Commerce.
We will also be issuing some exciting awards to employers who have worked with us!

Join us in your local office to hear how your business can get ready for Making Tax Digital. This breakfast seminar will take place between 7.45 am and 9.30 am at our Thetford office. What is Making Tax Digital? Being introduced in April 2019, Making Tax Digital will revolutionise the way in which businesses will need to maintain records for HMRC. Initially, HMRC will require businesses with a turnover greater than the VAT threshold to maintain digital records, but eventually, it is expected to be rolled out across all areas of tax. We look forward to seeing you there.
