You no longer need to work – what happens next? We welcome 2 brilliant guest speakers to our upcoming Masterclass! Continuing our theme of Change, this month we focus on personal change. We’re delighted to be joined by two brilliant speakers: Elizabeth Field, a Private Client partner at Mills and Reeve and Judy Dow, one of the driving forces at the Norfolk Community Foundation. The shift to a new phase of life can be a difficult transition for anyone but it can be unexpectedly tough for business leaders. …You’ve had a life that is full of purpose; you’ve felt you’re making a difference every day and suddenly a lot of that has gone. … You may have sold a business. It’s great that someone has not only recognised your hard work but is prepared to pay you for it; the chance of a new beginning can be exciting and invigorating. But somehow you can’t get away from those feelings of anti-climax and an acute sense of loss of purpose and identity. Our session will look at issues around preparing for life after a significant change, with a focus on the particular challenges at retirement. By working with people who have sold their business, inherited a large sum, or simply built value in their retirement assets, Chadwicks has developed an approach that makes sense of amounts that have the potential to change not just your life but those of generations to come. What to expect We’ll start by touching on the changing nature of retirement – we’ve moved beyond the pipe and slippers model to more active, and longer, retirements – before discussing how we can develop a transition mindset using two models that take us through first order change to embedded second order change (it’s more interesting than we’ve made it sound!). We’ll end the first section by looking briefly at planning Next Act finances and how much you need to be able to retire comfortably. After the break we’ll start to delve deeper into purpose with a session by Lizzie talking about creating a legacy for the next generation and exploring ways of protecting this from life’s inevitable twists and turns. We’ll finish with Judy talking about the value of charitable giving in supporting the desire to find new purpose with a practical ‘how to’ guide to creating a charitable legacy. Date:               29 March 2023 Time(s):           6.00pm til 8.00pm Where:           Fountain Offices, 2 Surrey Street, Norwich NR1 3NX (We are grateful to our friends at The Fountain Partnership for the use of their splendid meeting facilities for this event).
