Each year, 140 million working days are lost to sickness absence in the UK, costing UK businesses an estimated £29billion. Evidence shows that workplace wellbeing and health initiatives can deliver a wide range of benefits, to both organisations and employees: investments in appropriate and successful workplace health initiatives have the potential to see a return of between £2 and £34 for every £1 spent*; while taking part in a part-time course for work over the past year has been estimated to give wellbeing benefits equivalent to £1,584 income per year**.
