Q1 2025 Review Webinar – Trump, The Spring Statement and Markets.
Never mind Black Swans – look out for the Orange Man!
The first quarter of Trump’s second presidency has confirmed many people’s worst fears – and more. Markets are struggling to make sense of the mercurial leader of the free world and are in retreat, giving up the post -election Trump Bump gains. Market corrections are part and parcel of investing. They are uncomfortable to navigate but, as long as we avoid the urge to panic, seldom cause lasting harm to portfolios. Usually they are triggered by a ‘Black Swan’ event – something unexpected. Covid is a good example. This time it has been triggered by someone who told us what he’d do – the problem is few people believed he could be quite so reckless!
In this session we’ll be trying to look beyond Trump’s aggressive rhetoric to make sense of what the world will look like once the dust settles. Standing a bit further back to put things into perspective is a good discipline to adopt when investing and that’s what we’ll be doing.
We’ll move on to reflect on the Spring statement, paying particular attention to the OBR’s reaction. We’ll look at the implications for the domestic economy, focusing on inflation and growth.

We are very pleased to have the lovely Alison Alden with us from Fortunes by Alison, she has been trading for two years independently but has a firm business background having been a partner in a haulage firm and previously a director in her family business.
The talk is about how stories sell. There’s a lot of buzz about telling your story and being authentic, this is important but, if a product or a service can have a story this makes it more memorable and valuable. Alison does gin tea reading and has evidence and photographs of her great aunt reading tea leaves as well as her great great grandmother, so there is a real family history there! Each delegate will be given a piece of red string which will have no value until Alison shares its story, the perception of the string then changes showing how telling a story adds value to your business. Alison understand that a product or service with a story sells better and her red string talk will show delegates this.
All are welcome so feel free to pop along to find out what it’s all about, grab a cuppa and get chatting!
