In true Chambers style we will have a networking activity to get everyone chatting and a guest speaker giving you essential knowledge.  Rachel Blackburn from US2U Consulting will be giving you tips on producing a robust business plan including:

• Producing the vision, values and your unique selling proposition
• Identifying clear goals
• Deciding priority actions for the short term, medium term, long term
• Review of the external environment
• Compiling competitor analysis
• Understanding your company Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats

Rachel started her career in the financial services industry and, after discovering a flair for coaching, moved into management consultancy. After achieving significant success at a leading consultaing and recruitment firm she decided to set up on her own, US2U Consulting was born! In June 2016 Rachel received a highly commended alumni achievement award from the Open University Business School in recognition of her success since achieving her MBA in 2004, she really does know her stuff.

We are pleased to have Suren Thiru from the British Chambers of Commerce with us, he will be asking whether the UK economy is stalling by giving an overview of the latest economic trends, Brexit and what it means for your business. There will be an opportunity after his speech to put your questions to him.

Suren oversees the British Chambers of Commerce’s economic thought leadership work and is a regular media commentator on the latest economic trends, he also leads on the British Chambers’ policy work on access to finance and tax. His wide ranging background in economics gives him a unique perspective.

Richard Bailey, Director and head of company commercial at Steeles Law, the morning’s sponsor, will be hosting the event. We’re back in Great Yarmouth this June, bringing our popular networking business breakfast to the Great Yarmouth Town Hall. 

Your morning will be fuelled by tea and coffee, served with a full English breakfast and enjoyed with over 50 other delegates, all looking to build new relationships.

We’ll keep you busy throughout the morning with plenty of networking activities and a talk from our guest speaker. This event will focus on how active working and interior design can change your wellbeing at work. 

Event Topic:

The average person now sits for roughly 10 hours a day, this sedentary lifestyle plays a big part in contributing towards the UK’s obesity epidemic. Our guest speaker Floyd Sayers from Flomotion believes that to do our best we need to feel good and that means focusing on the body and mind, leading to more productivity, engagement and improved health and wellbeing. Flomotion will share their knowledge and expertise around sit-stand desks, active seating and accessories. Alongside their health and wellbeing initiatives promoting movement, exercise, stretching, breathing and mindfulness. Floyd will also be joined by Louise Ives-Wilkinson. She will give an introduction to Biophilic Design, the benefits and how it can be incorporated into homes and workplaces to have a positive and lasting effect in the end users.

I’ve spent over 20 years in the creative Industries based in London, working in graphic design, photography, packaging, product development and art direction. Seadragon Publishing a card, stationery and gift company evolved after our move to Norwich 12 years ago. For the past 3 years we have been promoting active working through Flomotion.

Louise Ives-Wilkinson

Louise is an award winning interior designer on a mission to improve people’s lives through interior design. While taking time out from designing to raise her family, Louise fell ill from post natal depression and anxiety. During the time spent battling these illnesses Louise realised the huge impact your internal environment can have on your health and well being. When starting to research deeper into the field, her studies led her to Biophilic design. Starting with her home, she set about creating a sanctuary which would help reduce her depression, lower her stress levels and increase her sense of well being. After her recovery and realisation of the growing mental health crisis, Louise identified a way to help others through interior design. She changed the focus of her design business to incorporate proven design methodology to create a holistic approach to interior spaces.

John Dolan will be our speaker at the breakfast. John joins us from the ERSOU (Eastern Region Special Operations Unit) Counter Terrorist Police. John has worked with as a CTSA (Counter terrorism security adviser) for the past 9 years working in the field of counter terrorism both in the investigations and protective security arena. John asks “How could the business community cope with a terrorist incident? How prepared are you? What would you do if you were caught up in a terrorist incident? Would your business survive afterwards? How would your business and community react to action and affect of a terrorist incident?” This briefing will highlight the options and resources available for your businesses and the community to be better placed to mitigate the effects of an attack.

Creative Arts East will be our charity for the event and is an arts and community development charity, which focuses on engaging those communities, or their members, who face geographical, physical or other barriers to participating in the cultural life of their area.
