Off The Record: Live Q&A With Dr Pascal Lottaz (Neutrality Studies)
π¦βπ₯ One of the core aims of this event is to develop the confidence to think independently, and learn how to conduct their own high-quality research. Difficult topics are raised not to prescribe conclusions, but to sharpen critical thinking: how claims are made, how sources are selected, what is omitted, and how power, incentives, and framing shape what we are shown. Participants are actively encouraged to question everything discussed, verify information independently, and leave better equipped to orient themselves going forward β regardless of where they ultimately land.
π£ This event will be held both AT THE VENUE (Edith Cavell) and ONLINE (Zoom). If you choose to attend in person, please RSVP in advance if you are planning to attend IN PERSON as the spaces are limited, but you can also participate online, should this happen or if you choose to.
πThe time is set to 19:30 to have a warm-up conversation and in order to give everyone to grab their drinks and settle before welcoming our guest speaker at 20:00.
β¨I am beyond honoured to say that our next guest will be Dr Pascal Lottaz β researcher at the Kyoto University’s faculty of law and the Hakubi Center. He specialises on the study of neutrality in international relations; Geopolitics in East Asia, European Politics, Nuclear Nonproliferation, and the study of the Second World War.
Dr Lottaz has personally interviewed hundreds of high-profile professionals: academics, researchers, historians and politicians β including, and often especially those who have been silenced, ostracised and otherwise punished by the systems they were in (please consider watching his recent interviews with Col. Jacques Baud and Nathalie Yamb for a fuller picture, as these provide first-person accounts of the experiences you may not otherwise see in the news. This is not solely the case, but one thing that Pascal dedicates a lot of his time and efforts to is providing a platform for non-mainstream thoughts, experiences and ideas to be discussed and explored from a political & geo-political POV.
As always, do conduct your own research and draw your own conclusions).
He runs his own international academic research project & a very successful YouTube channel by the same name β Neutrality Studies
Neutrality Studies is an international academic research project, for the study of neutrality as a concept in international relations, sociology, international law, diplomacy, political science, security, and history.

Personal note: From what I have personally observed while following Pascal’s work for over a year, I could say that he is a staunch protector of the freedom of speech, human rights, and a strong proponent of the idea of the laws and systems working as they should for the benefit of the people and not against them.

This will be a Live Online Conversation and an unprecedented chance for you to have the opportunity to ask Dr Lottaz regarding the topics of interest e.g. the situation on politics/geopolitics as this would be a unique chance to get a knowledgeable point of view (please send me your questions in advance).
If you’ve got any questions you’d like me to ask Pascal during our session β please respond here on Meetup (will pop up when RSVP-ing) and/or email them to me in advance (as this is the first time this format is being tried, so there will be a bit of ambiguity in how it will go): **[email protected]**
