Tell Us How Business Is Going: The Q1 2026 Economic Survey Is Open
Businesses across Norfolk are invited to complete the first Quarterly Economic Survey of 2026. Members and non-members are welcome to take part, and everyone who responds could win two tickets to the Royal Norfolk Show this summer.
The first Quarterly Economic Survey (QES) of the year is now live and open to any business in Norfolk, regardless of whether you are a Chamber member. We want to hear from as many businesses as possible, so please do share this with your contacts and encourage them to take part too.
The QES is the largest independent business survey in the UK. It has been running since 1989 and draws around 5,000 respondents every quarter. The survey tracks sales, exports, employment, investment, and business confidence, and its results are read closely by the Treasury, the Bank of England and the Office for Budget Responsibility.
The more Norfolk businesses that respond, the more clearly the survey reflects what is actually happening on the ground in our county. Your answers feed directly into the data that the British Chambers of Commerce put in front of policymakers.
What the Survey Covers
The survey asks about a range of indicators, including:
• Home and export sales
• Employment levels and recruitment
• Cash flow and investment plans
• Confidence about the year ahead
• The issues causing most concern to your business right now
The Q4 2025 survey showed that 75% of Norfolk businesses named tax, including National Insurance, as their biggest concern following the Autumn Budget. Confidence fell to its lowest point since 2022, with investment plans scaled back and price rises expected across many sectors. As we move into a new quarter, it is important that businesses continue to report what they are experiencing.
