Daniel Connal Partnership named one of The Sunday Times Best Places to Work
Multi-disciplinary construction consultancy Daniel Connal Partnership has been named one of The Sunday Times Best Places to Work 2026, recognising the firm’s commitment to employee wellbeing, development and workplace culture.
The nationwide survey celebrates 567 organisations across the UK considered to be leading the way in employee engagement, workplace culture and employee experience.
Daniel Connal Partnership, which has offices in London, Colchester and Norwich, achieved an overall employee engagement score of 87% – 13% above the average for the construction and building materials sector – and was recognised within the small business category.
The firm also recorded zero employees at high risk of poor wellbeing or intending to leave the business within the next nine months.
The recognition builds on a landmark year for the firm, which is celebrating its 80th anniversary in 2026. Recent initiatives have included the launch of The Juniper Foundation, supporting mentoring, apprenticeships and professional development across the business, alongside its ‘80 Acts of Good’ programme focused on community and charitable activity in its 80th year.
Earlier this year, the firm was also part of the team behind Colchester’s award-winning Digital Forum project, which secured two Constructing Excellence Essex Awards, including Building Project of the Year.
With 30 employees across its London, Colchester and Norwich offices, Daniel Connal Partnership said the award, which is in the small business category, reflects a deliberate focus on creating a people-first culture within a highly competitive sector.
Robert Dale, Senior Partner at Daniel Connal Partnership, said: “We’re incredibly proud to receive this recognition because it comes directly from our people and how they feel about working here day-to-day.
“The quality of our work is driven by the quality of our people, so investing in them has always mattered to us.
“Our staff were especially complimentary when asked if they are doing something worthwhile, developing in their role and treated with respect. This makes me incredibly proud of the culture we have worked hard to build at Daniel Connal Partnership.
“As we mark 80 years in business this year, we’ve spent a lot of time thinking about the future of the profession and the type of business we want to continue building.”
The Sunday Times’ independent survey, powered by employee experience platform WorkL, assesses organisations against six key areas: reward and recognition, information sharing, empowerment, instilling pride, job satisfaction and wellbeing.
The firm’s people-focused approach is embedded within its values, which include enjoyment, respect, empowerment and celebration.
Initiatives highlighted in its Best Places to Work submission included its Futures Forum for younger employees, mentoring and reverse mentoring schemes through The Juniper Foundation, structured professional development, flexible working arrangements, wellbeing support and company-wide volunteering opportunities.
Founded in 1946, Daniel Connal Partnership provides building surveying, quantity surveying, project management and health and safety services across sectors including commercial, education, healthcare, heritage, residential and community projects.
