The Big Debate 2026

The Big Debate 2026 – Economy, Innovation and Infrastructure for Norfolk

The Big Debate returns for 2026! We had originally planned to focus on devolution and the proposed Mayoral Combined County Authority, but with that process now delayed by two years, we’ve taken a different approach.

We asked our members what they actually want to debate right now, and the response was clear: let’s talk about the issues affecting Norfolk businesses right now.
Join us at The Forum, Norwich, for a BBC Question Time–style debate where business leaders, MPs, and local influencers will tackle the challenges and opportunities facing our region’s economy.

This is your opportunity to be part of the conversation that will shape the future of Norfolk business.

The Big Debate themes – What our members want to discuss

We asked our members what matters most to them, and three clear priorities emerged:

The Economy and Taxation – How do current economic conditions and tax policies affect Norfolk businesses? What needs to change to support growth, investment, and competitiveness in our region?

Workforce and AI –  How do we build the talent pipeline Norfolk needs while navigating rapid technological change? What does the rise of AI mean for jobs, skills, and the future of work in our county?

Norfolk’s Infrastructure – From transport links to digital connectivity, what infrastructure investments will unlock economic potential across Norfolk? How do we ensure the county isn’t left behind?

What’s New for The Big Debate 2026

We are currently finalising our debating panel, with invites extended to: MPs representing Norfolk constituencies, business leaders and sector experts driving growth and innovation in our region, and local influencers and decision-makers shaping Norfolk’s future

What to expect
