On a blustery April morning over 85 delegates joined the Norfolk Chamber at Sprowston Manor for an English breakfast with Mustard. Fiona Ryder, MD of Mustard TV spoke about how they have taken full advantage of the new licenses issued by the Government in 2011 and how they are working with the local business community to enhance Norfolk’s profile through local media.

“Excellent event, great speakers, wellorganised and a great breakfast. Well worth getting up early for! Great opportunity for networking!” – David Head, Winsor Bishop

Fiona talked specifically about what local viewers were interested in citing that over 40% were most interested in local events, local crime and infrastructure. Through a series of local partnerships and community programming slots Mustard TV aims to offer opportunities to Norfolk Businesses to engage with their area and develop a potential audience of over 200,000.

“Interesting and informative network session. Good to meet other local businesses and learn about developments in our local community” – Sophie Simpson, DeVere Dunston Hall

We also heard from our chosen event charity Mind. Sandra Flangan, Deputy CEO & Personalisation Lead at Norwich and Central Norfolk Mind reminded us of the importance of taking care of your employees’ mental health, explaining that 1 in 4 of us will suffer from work related mental health issues such as stress or depression in the next 12 months.

Continuing the Norfolk Chamber’s 2013 theme of unlocking the potential of Norfolk’s young people, we were delighted to welcome two apprentices to our breakfast. Alasdair McKenzie from Novagraaf UK and Mitchell Vale from Red Cat Partnership Ltd enjoyed taking part in business networking. Mitchell commented “it was a brilliant chance to talk to other business and learn about them.”

As well as hearing from Fiona and Sandra, three other delegates were given the chance to talk about their businesses for a series of sixty second spotlights. Linda Thursby from EPIC-TV, Elliot Symond from Jarrold Training and John Hall from McDonald Hall Ltd all took the opportunity to tell delegates more about what they do and what they can offer.

The event closed with safari networking time which proved as popular as always, giving local businesses the opportunity to make the right connections and do business. The next Norwich Business Breakfast will take place on 21 June at Norwich City Football Club. We also have Chill Time on 25th April which is our next networking event. To book your place click here.
