New pre-registration system for shipments to Egypt from 1 July 2021
We have been made aware by The Egyptian British Chamber of Commerce of an official notification with regards to a new mandatory customs pre-registration system (Advance Cargo information – ACI) for shipments to Egypt taking effect from 1 July 2021. Cargo data and documents including the commercial invoice and Bill of Lading need to be pre-submitted at least 48 hours prior to shipment of cargo from overseas markets.
Official message from the Egyptian Commercial Service (ECS) at the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in London:
“Within the framework of the Egyptian government’s (Ministry of Finance Customs Authority, Director General Office) endeavour to simplify the procedures for releasing goods in Egyptian ports, the Egyptian Company for Electronic Trade Technology (MTS) was established to implement a pre-registration system for shipments before their arrival at Egyptian ports.
The implementation of the system began from April 1, with the actual implementation of the system binding as of July 1, 2021, and since the aforementioned system aims to assess and identify risk elements prior to shipment to Egypt, depending on the initial data of the shipment (data of the source, importer, item. ... etc.), you will need to notify the system to inform members.
