Leeway is a specialist domestic abuse charity supporting over 9,000 adults, children and young people every year across Norfolk who have or who still are experiencing domestic abuse.

Domestic abuse doesn’t just mean violent behaviour. It’s about power and control. It can also include emotional, psychological and financial abuse. Domestic abuse can affect anyone, regardless of gender, age or ethnicity. Leeway works to empower their service users so that they can make positive changes in their lives.

Leeway provides a range of services for adults, children and young people who have or are currently experiencing domestic abuse across Norfolk. Leeway's services include a 24 hour free, confidential telephone helpline, emergency refuges, advocacy, community services for women, children and young people, male victim support and a sexual abuse advisor service.

Leeway was established in Norfolk 1974 and was a founding member of WAFE (Women’s Aid Federation England). Our service was set up by a group of women who recognised that there was a need for a refuge in Norwich. We believe this became the third known to open in the country. The service started with a small start up grant from the local authority of £200 and was run by volunteers on a collective basis. dren, with the establishment of the After School Club and a Resettlement service.
